Clemency’s Poem
As we get ready for a new school year here in New Zealand I came across this poem that Clemency wrote last year at school and thought I would share it.
Magic Box
I will put in my boxa single sparkling scale from a silvery swimming fisha sad sketch of a scared sona monkey from the Himalayas wearing high-heelsI will put in my boxsome sunset stained cloudsa spare raindrop from a tigers eyea tin of sun-beams from the mountainsI will put in my boxa single flower that is a river crammed full of bursting colourthe warm bright limey sun reflecting the green grass belowbuildings standing as giants, tall and proud in the cityI will put in my boxthe day when the cow jumped over the moona gold fish on a clouda giant in a fish tankI will put in my boxa fluffy cream bun gone to sleepa fresh chuckling orange daintily plucked from a fruit treesome yummy sweets from Willy Wonka’s factory coated with his smileI will put in my boxthe smell of roses as it drifts through my bedroom windowthe moon reflecting a crystal like a mirror when it whispers goodnightthe lumpiness of freshly made muffinsMy box is made ofsilvergold andsparkling crystalsI keep my boxin the basementbehind a secret doorwhere no one will find it
